Each year through its Christmas Basket and Giving Tree program both Sandy and Boring Fire Districts provide an avenue for firefighters, citizens, and the business community band together to assist over 800 disadvantaged families during the holidays (approximately 400 in each Fire District each year).
The week before Christmas, Boring Fire District’s Bay is transformed into Santa’s Workshop where toys are wrapped and food is boxed to be delivered to families within the area.
Sandy Fire District’s program is hosted by the Kiwanis, with administration provided by Exec. Assistant Wilson.
Both Fire Districts work in cooperation with Kiwanis, the schools, the Salvation Army, and Social Services and both serve as the application point for recipients.
