The
Prevention Division was formed in 1998 through an intergovernmental
agreement between Sandy Fire District and Boring Fire District with
the Mission of reducing the frequency and magnitude of fires and
preventable injuries using community based, cost effective, service
oriented prevention programs.
These programs are developed through research and participation
in local, state and national rule making and regulatory processes.
Programs are delivered via the provision of technical support/consultation,
education, information and by serving as a ‘member of the
community’ during public events.
By restructuring the operational outlines of their separate prevention
divisions and creating one consolidated division, the districts were
able to realign the responsibilities of the division’s staff
to better serve the needs of the communities we serve.
The Prevention Division’s cooperative and flexible, customer
service oriented attitude continues to set the tone for the creation
of a comprehensive inspection program and has enhanced collaboration
with our neighboring fire districts (Corbett, Estacada, Clackamas,
and Hoodland).
2009 will mark the tenth anniversary of this innovative partnership.
Area Served
The Prevention Division covers nearly 144 square miles of urban, suburban, rural and wildland-urban
