This program is managed by FPO Lasher and Sandy Fire District’s Executive Secretary. Cost to attend a public class is $20 for in district and $25 for out of district students. If businesses or organization wish to schedule a ‘special class’ they can do so for $250 with a maximum of 12 students. These fees do not reflect a “profit margin” but a revenue that allows the program to be self sustaining.

TOURS
All tours are scheduled through and done primarily by, FPO Lasher. Line firefighters are encouraged to participate and occasionally lead tours themselves. Age appropriate information and materials are available as well as videos for checkout purposes. Tours are generally limited to 25 students at a time.
Not only are tours a valuable Public Education opportunity for the fire service, they are also quite often the only opportunity for parents to see their children interact with firefighters. This is an important aspect, as it will vividly demonstrate the need for additional education in the home if a child shows fear of a firefighter in turnouts. Parents are often surprised to find that their children will not approach a firefighter in full gear, even after watching the transformation.
13 organized tours were conducted in 2005 serving approximately 300 youth and 65 adults, 8 in Sandy Fire District and 5 in Boring Fire District.
